Targeting Metalloenzymes for Next Generation Drugs.Metalloenzymes are involved in numerous cellular processes and form a class of high-value drug targets. However, targeting therapeutically relevant metalloenzymes remains challenging due to potential off-target interactions with other ubiquitous metalloproteins. Our lab combines our expertise in rational protein design, high-throughput screening, and target-based small molecule design in tandem with various bioinorganic and structural biology techniques to identify novel mechanisms of action for highly selective targeting. Ultimately, our research aims to develop novel therapeutics that target metalloproteins involved in cancer, neurodegeneration, various infectious diseases, and explore their potential for protein profiling.
